After qualifying from University my career started on a graduate programme with Weetabix where we launched the movable breakfast Alpen Bars, which was a huge change in direction from the standard tabletop cereal delivery. It was a great platform to start my career which then developed to me moving to a pharmaceutical company based in Bristol, where we launched the Boots own label vitamins.
After exploring the marketing mechanics of a business, I wanted to balance my experience with an in depth knowledge of accountancy. This is when I decided to set up my own business in 2007 where I retrained under the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. I then worked with a select number of businesses as a CFO and CEO to drive business performance, which all started with a good understanding of the business strategy, management accounts and marketing.
Bookkeeping allows you to get deeply embedded in the roots of a business to clearly identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and to see the actual situation versus the business objectives, cash flow, budgets and projections.
