Before the vote the Chancellor indicated there could be massive tax rises if we chose to leave the EU.
Was this just campaign talk or should you brace yourself for some substantial changes to the tax system?
Much of the UK's tax legislation is independent of EU influence so will be largely unaffected.
However, there are a few notable exceptions that could affect your clients' businesses.
Whether you have just started to plan your new business or have just started to trade, our accountants can provide you with the help and support you need in the initial stages.
How the business is structured - should you be operating as self employed, in a partnership or operate as a limited company?.
Our proactive accountants can provide you with answers and advice to all of these questions and issues along with many more that you may have.
All of our services are provided at a fixed fee and include unlimited help and support throughout the year, which is ideal for any business, but especially useful for business startups.
Trading through a limited company is generally the most tax efficient route to running your own business.
Running a limited company will mean registering one first.
You will need to think about a name for the company and registering it at Companies House.
You will also need a registered address for the company.
A limited company is a separate entity to yourself as the business owner unlike a sole trader, providing you with protection.
Our accountants will be able to provide you with advice on withdrawing dividends and paying yourself a salary.
If you are starting a partnership, both the partnership and each partner will need to be registered for business taxes.
You will need to register online to send in a Partnership Tax Return.
Each partner will also need to complete self assessment tax returns, but this can set up online too, at the same time.
If your partnership is employing other people, HMRC will use your partnership information to set up the partnership as an employer.
You will need to make sure that you keep your records throughout the year so that when it is time to file the partnership tax return, your accountant can prepare a set of accounts for you.
Paying less tax - contractors can reduce their tax liabilities (if they take the correct, legal professional advice.).
Experience - By moving from contract to contract, they gain experience in working at different companies giving them an enhanced CV.
Depending on your circumstances and how much your daily rate is, our advisers can give you advice on which business structure you should use.
For example is trading through a limited company the best option for you and how much tax will you save?
